2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee breaks cover
Ahead of its Australian launch in January next year, Jeep has today released images of its all-new 2011 Grand CherokeeWhen you think Jeep, chances are one of two models spring to mind -- the iconic Wrangler or the versatile family-hauler, Grand Cherokee. The model's timeless design has undergone a makeover for 2011 with a more refined, modern take on the classic Cherokee shape.
Completely re-sculpted, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee now offers a more athletic profile, a revised interior with new, soft-touch surfaces and even more luxury touches -- such as a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
Remaining true to its rock-solid off-road heritage, the Grand Cherokee continues to offer a rugged array of 4WD systems including Jeep's Quadra-Lift Air Suspension and Selec-Terrain transmission control system.
Under the bonnet, the 2011 Grand Cherokee will feature Chrysler's all-new 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine to offer an 11 per cent improvement in fuel economy over the superseded model (now 10.2L/100km combined) for a claimed single-tank cruising range of 800km. Output figures are expected to be around 216kW/353Nm, but will be confirmed shortly.
Similarly, the new model has also undergone some serious changes beneath the skin with new independent front and rear suspension delivering better on-road manners without impacting off-road ability. A stiff new body also ensures a no-nonsense approach to towing with Grand Cherokee now capable of pulling 3300-kilograms (braked).
Full Australian pricing and specification details will be announced closer to the Grand Cherokee's local launch in January.
