2018 Maserati Quattroporte pricing revealed

New safety and upgraded twin-turbo V6 headline updates for big Italians sedan

The upgraded 2018 Maserati Quattroporte range has landed in Australia.

Promising new safety equipment, added tech and a revised twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, the sedan range kicks off at an unchanged $209,990 plus on-road costs.

Mirroring recent upgrades on other Maserati models including the Levante, the Quattroporte now gets an electric power steering system which enables new safety tech including automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and traffic sign recognition.

Mechanical changes are headed by revisions to the 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 in the Quattroporte S, which now boasts 321kW and 580Nm.

In total, the line-up comprises four different engines: the aforementioned twin-turbo six, along with a 202kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, the standard 257kW/500Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 and a 390kW/650Nm 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 - the last three of which remain unchanged from 2017.

As before, the Quattroporte sends drive to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic.

Inside, the Maser offers a new 8.4-inch touch-screen projecting functions including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the first time. The touch-screen works in unison with a rotary-style dial like that in BMW and Audi products.

Maserati has re-aligned its Quattroporte models to fit with its other products. As such, there are two major option packages: GranLusso and GranSport.

Bringing a decidedly luxury bent, the GranLusso gets 20-inch 'Mercutio' alloy wheels, black brake callipers, Zegna silk interior, wood trim for the steering wheel and gearshift, powered sun shades front and rear, quad-zone climate control, heated rear seats, Alcantara headlining and with ventilated front seats.

The GranSport plays on its sporty theme with 21-inch 'Titano' alloys, dual-cast brakes with red callipers, piano-black interior trim, stainless steel sports pedals, 12-way electrically-adjustable front sports seats, unique front and rear bumpers, Alcantara headlining and a gloss-black front grille.

The 2018 Quattroporte is available in showrooms now.
