2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo revealed

Porsche reveals the ultimate go-fast wagon, a 500kW machine that has a top speed of 310km/h

Porsche has taken the wraps off perhaps the ultimate grocery hauler – a hybrid V8 station wagon, no less.

Better still, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo has been slated for Australian arrival (special orders only) priced from $466,400.

The latest variant in the Panamera line-up, the Sport Turismo nameplate is essentially Porsche speak for station wagon. This one combines a 4.0-litre V8 with an electric motor to become the most powerful model in the line-up, developing a spritely 500kW and 850Nm.

The corresponding nought to 100km/h time of 3.4 seconds and top speed of 310km/h is matched by an impressive theoretical fuel consumption figure of 3.0L/100km, Porsche claims. The S E-Hybrid also boasts a pure electric range of up to 49km.

The Sport Turismo features a large tailgate aperture, low loading edge and spacious interior layout commensurate with regular family duties.

It sends drive to all four wheels via eight-speed PDK transmission. As with all Porsches, the options catalogue is extensive, including items such as rear-axle steering and a roof spoiler that can generate up to 50kg of additional downforce over the rear axle.

From a design perspective, the Sport Turismo features a raised roofline, affording greater head clearance. The re-worked rear design also liberates 425 litres of luggage space, which stretches to 1295 litres with the 2+1 rear seats folded.

Standard equipment Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC Sport) roll stabilisation including the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) rear differential lock, high-performance Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) braking system, 21-inch alloy wheels in a 911 turbo design, Power Steering Plus, Sport Chrono Package and auxiliary air conditioning.

Also standard is the three-chamber air suspension including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for a broad range between a high level of driving dynamics and driving comfort.

The Turismo Sport is available to order in Australia now.
