2018 Range Rover revealed

The 2018 Range Rover will arrive in Australian showrooms in March with a healthy green bent.

Revealed in these images, the British SUV flagship will include a new plug-in hybrid variant, the P400e, which will consume as little as 2.8L/100km thanks to the combination of a 221kW 2.0-litre turbo-four and an 85kW electric motor, providing 297kW/640Nm outputs.

All in all, the plug-in model offers up to 51km of electric driving range, and can be charged in as little as 2 hours 45 minutes from a dedicated 32-amp wall box; a regular household connection would take significantly longer.

The P400e headlines a revised Range Rover line-up that will arrive in showrooms in March priced from $190,000 plus on-road costs.

Elsewhere, the stable comprises the SVAutobiography, the long-wheelbase flagship with a stonking 416kW/700Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8, the 190kW 3.0-litre TDV6, 250kW 4.4-litre TDV8 and 280kW 3.0-litre supercharged petrol V6.

Of all the standard engine choices, it is the garden-variety 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that gets the biggest power fillip for 2018, from 375kW to 386kW.

The MY18 range also gets minor styling revisions to bring the Range Rover model into line with the Range Rover Sport and the newly-conceived Range Rover Velar. Re-worked elements include the front grille, front bumper, a longer version of the clamshell bonnet, new accent and vent trims along the flanks, and a new rear bumper design.

LED headlights have also been added in the form of optional Matrix or ‘Pixel-Laser’ units, the latter capable of casting light more than 500 metres ahead.

The Rangie’s interior adopts the new Touch Pro Duo dual infotainment system already debuted on the Velar, bringing two 10-inch touchscreens controlling the vehicle’s key infotainment, navigation, climate and driving settings.

The screens work in concert with a new 12-inch digital instrument display located behind the steering wheel and head-up display function. And if that’s not enough, the Range Rover is available with a 10-inch rear entertainment screen 18 connection points (USB, HDMI et al), and a 4G WiFi hotspot.

On the safety front, the Range Rover is available with automated emergency braking (AEB), reversing camera, lane departure warning and rear parking sensors. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition and 360-degree parking cameras are also said to be available.
