2019 Skoda Kamiq cabin previewed
Small Skoda Kamiq SUV gets upscaled version of recently revealed Scala interiorSkoda has released yet another teaser of its forthcoming Skoda Kamiq SUV ahead of its launch at the Geneva motor show next month.
This time it was the turn of the Czech car-maker to show off its interior, posting three new images of the production Skoda Kamiq's cabin.
Claimed to be inspired by the Vision RS Concept, the Skoda Kamiq on first glance seems to have a cockpit lifted directly from the recently unveiled Scala hatchback that's closely related to the small SUV.
Featuring a large raised centrally-mounted touchscreen that sits above a pair of air vents, Skoda's latest small SUV separates the climate control and seat heaters by placing them lower down in the dash, ahead of the gear lever.
Like the Scala, the Kamiq also features a rubber wireless charging pad.
Beneath the gear shifter, the small Skoda SUV appears to feature a drive mode selector, a start-stop button, parking sensors and an auto-park facility.
Ahead of the driver, the Kamiq gets a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit digital display that's class-leading for size.
Inside, there's a new selection of seat materials, a heated steering wheel and front windscreen.
There's also new ambient lighting.
Created to rival small SUVs like Mazda's CX-3 and forthcoming CX-4, the Kamiq will slot in the Skoda range beneath the Karoq and Kodiaq SUVs. Hence why it's based on the same MQB platform as the Volkswagen's baby T-Roc.
Expected to measure in at 4250mm long, 1500mm high and around 1800mm wide, with a wheelbase of around 2645mm, the small Skoda is actually 16mm longer than the T-Roc with a wheelbase elongated by 55mm.
Those traits will translate into class-leading levels of passenger and luggage space and an emphasis on interior comfort for the Czech SUV.
Under the bonnet, the production Kamiq is almost certain to share the small VW’s petrol-only small turbocharged range of 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre TSI engines.
When it arrives, the baby Czech SUV will have all the hallmarks of the car-maker’s best-selling model.
On sale in Europe shortly after its Geneva unveiling, the Kamiq should arrive in Australia by Q3 of 2019, priced below $25,000.
