An upgraded Audi RS 4 Avant has been revealed and it will be released in Australia in mid-2020, following the local launch of the facelifted Audi A4 and S4 earlier next year.
Headlined by a redesigned front-end, Audi says the RS 4 go-fast wagon now differs considerably from lesser A4 Avant models by sporting reshaped LED headlights, a new bumper and a new eggcrate grille fitted directly into the bumper to give it a cleaner look.
Inside the cabin, a new 10.1-inch multimedia system is now controlled via a touch-sensitive screen, doing away with a rotary dial controller on the centre console in previous models.
Standard features include smartphone mirroring, navigation and voice command. A shift light display can also be activated, which can also be used via a head-up display when the latter is optioned.
The touch-screen can be used to show a number of displays, from tyre pressures, engine oil temperature, lap times, g-force and acceleration measurements, among other things.
Powered by the same 2.9-litre bi-turbo V6 paired to an eight-speed transmission, it pumps out the same staggering 331kW/600Nm, allowing for a sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.1 seconds.
In an addition to the RS 4’s standard driving modes, an RS Mode button is located on the flat-bottomed steering wheel allowing drivers to switch between configurable profiles to change things like steering and suspension.
Audi says new aluminium shift paddles are considerably larger than before.
Australian pricing for the 2020 Audi RS 4 Avant is yet to be announced, but the German brand’s rival for the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Estate and BMW M3 is currently priced at $152,529 plus on-road costs.
