2020 Chevrolet Corvette is not an exotic sports car

The all-American supercar has a mid-mounted V8 engine, but you cannot call it exotic… here's why!

The new C8 Corvette Stringray is cool car. It's low, sleek, has massive wheels and big Brembo brakes, removable roof panels and, crucially, a mid-mounted V8 engine.

The 6.2-litre Chevy LT2 engine is treated like royalty, complete with a see-through cover so you can stare at the engine through a special 3.2mm thick glass panel. You won't find that on a McLaren 570S.

This American machine is real fast, rocketing from 0-100km/h in about 3.0 seconds thanks to its 370kW and 640Nm V8 power package, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed Tremec dual-clutch transmission. With launch control. Tasty.

To be built in left- and right-hand drive so it can be in various countries across the globe, from America to Japan and yes, even Australia, it's abundantly clear the eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette is ultra-cool. But is it exotic? No, it's not.
