2020 Ford Mustang price and spec

Pricing and details emerge for the updated 2020 Ford Mustang sports car

Ford Australia has revealed price and spec for the 2020 Mustang range, confirming price hikes across the board.

Entry into the Mustang stable now starts at $50,990 for the EcoBoost Fastback fitted with a six-speed manual transmission, representing a $1000 price hike. The correlating 10-speed automatic EcoBoost also rises $1000 to $53,990, while the convertible version starts at $60,490.

The EcoBoost runs a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 224kW and 441Nm.

One of the new heritage colours is Twister Orange

In due course it will be replaced by a 'High Performance' 2.3-litre engine (pictured) raising outputs by 12kW and 7Nm (236kW and 448Nm respectively). That particular variant has been slated for a February arrival in Australia.

For the V8 enthusiast, the flagship GT Fastback has risen $400 to $63,690 for the six-speed manual. The matching 10-speed automatic climbs to $66,600 – a significant jump compared with the V8 Mustang’s original $55,990 (plus on-road costs) landing price in 2015.

Power on the 2020 GT remains unchanged at 339kW and 556Nm from its 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine.

The equivalent convertible GT starts at $74,890 for 2020 – a marginal increase on 2019.

Ford has applied modest changes for the 2020 Model Year, announcing a $1000 Black Shadow Pack available on GT Fastback variants that brings darker accents on the front grille, badging, 19-inch wheels and bonnet vents.

Four new colours have been introduced, two of which are heritage hues - Grabber Lime and Twister Orange - along with Iconic Silver and Red Hot.

Standard equipment in the GT includes 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, a bi-modal exhaust, 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, 8.0-inch touchscreen with Sync3 operating system, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and a reversing camera.

The other addition for 2020 is the new 500kW Mustang R-Spec, which will be strictly limited to 500 examples and priced at $100k when it arrives early in the new year.
