2020 Holden Equinox leaked early

Pictures of the facelifted Holden Equinox have been accidentally published online by Chinese media.

The images of the Chinese-spec 2020 Chevrolet Equinox show how the US car-maker plans to introduce subtle blink-and-you'll-miss-them changes to Holden's mid-size SUV.

They show a tweaked grille and a pair of new split headlights, while at the rear there are fresh tail-lights, a redesignedw bumper and revised exhaust outlets.

Interestingly, the Chinese leak also shows how Equinox buyers -- at least in China -- will be able to opt for a sporty body kit that introduces darkened alloy rims, black mirror gaps, a honeycomb-style grille and quad-tailpipes.

Holden is yet to announce any changes to the Equinox sold in Australia, but the latter additions could arrive here in a Black Series version expected to be released as part a facelifted model range in coming months.

There are no images of the interior but it's thought the Equinox will benefit from an updated infotainment system.

Under the bonnet, there's no word on changes to the Equinox powertrains, which in Australia include a 127kW/275Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinger and a more powerful 188kW/353Nm 2.0-litre turbo engine, plus a more efficient 100kW/320Nm 1.6-litre turbo-diesel.

Full details should be released in the coming weeks when the Equinox is due to be unveiled at an event in the US.
