The fourth-generation Lexus IS will be unveiled virtually online on June 9 and is expected on sale in Australia by the end of this year. And to build anticipation for the all-new BMW 3 Series-rival, a single darkened image of the all-new mid-size premium sedan's rear-end has been released.
Featuring a striking full-width LED light bar, a low and wide stance and a hint of a rear diffuser, the 2020 Lexus IS will clearly bring overtly sporty styling that borrows heavily from the flagship Lexus LS limousine.
Beneath the skin, it's not yet known whether the new Lexus IS is based on Toyota's TNGA architecture or if Lexus's latest entry-level sedan is a re-skinned version of the existing IS.
Under the bonnet, it's thought the 2020 Lexus IS will be offered with four-cylinder petrol and hybrid powertrains, although there are some reports that Lexus will reintroduce a fast IS F variant.
Sadly, instead of the old IS F's naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8, the new IS F would come with a 310kW/600Nm 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 from the LS 500.
Stay tuned as all will be revealed next week.
