Renault Australia has revealed price and specification details for the 2020 Renault Kangoo van range.
As part of the 2020 revisions, Renault has axed the Kangoo Crew and Kangoo Maxi manual models from its line-up.
On sale in Australia from this month, the French cargo van is now available in two basic grades for 2020: the Kangoo short wheelbase (SWB) petrol, which starts at $25,490 (plus on-road costs) and the Kangoo Maxi long wheelbase (LWB) diesel, which starts at $31,490 (plus on-road costs).
Both models are $1000 dearer than their predecessors, but receive more standard equipment than before - helping them to renew the fight against the dominant segment leader, Volkswagen's Caddy.
Powering the Kangoo SWB entry model is an unchanged 1.2-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder with 84kW and 190Nm, mated standard to a six-speed manual transmission - equating to a 675kg payload. A six-speed automatic is available for an additional $2500 charge, but it cuts payload back to 540kg.
At the top rung of the Kangoo line-up is the Maxi, fit with a familiar 81kW/240Nm 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and six-speed dual-clutch automatic. It offers an 800kg payload plus a larger four cubic-metre cargo area (compared with the SWB's three cubic-metre area).
The 2020 changes begin with handy new functions including glazed 180-degree rear barn doors, a reversing camera, fog lights, automatic dusk-sensing headlights and automatic rain-sensing windscreen wipers.
There are also new rear parking sensors, cruise control, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming and drive/passenger front and side airbags.
A basic audio system is fit standard, or owners can option the available $1000 7.0-inch R-Link system complete with sat-nav and Android Auto (no Apple CarPlay).
Two additional optional packages are available for the 2020 Kangoo range: the $900 Trade package and the $1000 Business pack. The former brings an anti-slip timber floor, full height timber side protection panelling and LED ceiling lights, while the latter adds 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, dark-tinted barn door glass and a two-tone front bumper.
The Renault Kangoo range is backed by a three-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and is available with a capped price servicing program covering the first three years/45,000km of ownership (based on 12-month/15,000 intervals), along with complimentary roadside assistance.
