The refreshed 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV has been spotted out in the wild ahead of its official unveiling at the 2020 Geneva motor show and its global release thereafter.
The single, low-quality image of the facelifted Tiguan was posted by Instagram user CocheSpias after the facelifted mid-size Volkswagen was snapped at an undisclosed location.
Despite not revealing the entire car, it shows how the German car-maker plans to unveil an SUV with a more aggressive front-end that will feature a pair of huge air intakes.
The pic suggests Volkswagen will also move the Tiguan's lower front fog lights into the main headlight clusters for a cleaner look.
Although they're difficult to see here, the 2020 Tiguan is also expected to feature redesigned tail-lights and a new rear bumper.
Inside, expect all future Tiguans to come with Volkswagen's full digital instrument panel and the car-maker's latest infotainment system from the recently launched Golf.
Speaking of which, the biggest change to the updated Tiguan will be under the bonnet, where Volkswagen is expected to introduce a full range of fuel-saving electrified powertrains lifted from the upcoming Golf Mk8 hatch.
This includes the tech-laden 1.5-litre four-cylinder that combines a 48-volt mild-hybrid system attached to a 1.5-litre Miller Cycle turbo-petrol motor with 350 bar of common-rail fuel-injection pressure, an atmospheric plasma sprayed onto the cylinder walls, cylinder deactivation and 12.5:1 compression ratio.
The result is an engine that sips fuel at a diesel-like rate of 4.9L/100km.
Both the regular five-seat Tiguan and the seven-seat Tiguan Allspace are expected to go under the knife at the same time, but all will be revealed at March's Geneva motor show.where we'll also hopefully learn when the fast 225kW Tiguan R will join the line-up.
