Zagato has released fresh teasers of the upcoming 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato via its Instagram page, previewing the sports car’s sumptuous body lines, rich Giulia GTA-like metallic paint finish and its twin-turbo V6.
A series of stills and rendered clips have been posted over the past week via the temporary ‘stories’ function on Instagram, showcasing the Giulia SWB Zagato’s clamshell bonnet (opening towards the front), polished carbon-fibre roof and more angles of its rear lighting signature.
The bonnet has the same vents as the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (and GTA/GTAm) sedan it’s based on, as well as the QF sub-brand’s signature four-leaf clover emblem.
The most recent updates include a glimpse inside the cabin where we can see a set of lightweight carbon seats, green stitching and a harness tether bar.
At the front-end there’s also a simplified bumper design.
These clues, together with the heritage of the original Alfa Romeo TZ series, suggest the Giulia SWB Zagato to be a retro-inspired coupe adaptation of the current Giulia GTAm.
More than one colour will be available, but the GTAm roots, bones and heart means the limited-run beauty should offer blistering performance and track capabilities in conjunction with its thus far only hinted-at elegance.
The biturbo 2.9-litre V6 is currently good for 397kW/600Nm in its angriest form, but we wouldn’t be surprised if higher outputs have been coaxed out of the powerplant to help underscore its exclusivity
A largely carbon-fibre body, interior and shortened wheelbase should see the kerb weight dropped in comparison with the already stripped-out Giulia GTAm.
The whole package rides on silver Giulia GTA-spec alloy wheels shod with high-performance Michelin rubber and house what looks to be the flagship sedan’s carbon-ceramic brake package.
There’s no word yet on how many examples of the Giulia SWB Zagato will see the light of day, but it could be less than 100 if previous Zagato special-editions are any indication.
Pricing is also yet to be announced, but will be well in excess of the Giulia GTAm’s $288,000 base level.
