2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E: Full Australian details

Full local specs revealed for Ford’s battery-electric Mustang SUV, plus lower prices at top of range

Ford Australia has released full specification details of its upcoming 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E line-up and announced slightly lower pricing for the mid-range Premium and flagship GT models in alignment with the new luxury car tax threshold.

The Premium will now start from $91,665 plus on-road costs whereas the GT will open from $107,665 plus ORCs, marking reductions of $1325 apiece.

Ford previously revealed its Mustang Mach-E launch pricing and model line-up in May, with the pony-branded battery-electric SUV opening at $79,990 plus ORCs. This price remains unchanged.

The three model grades – Select, Premium and GT – all have different powertrain options.

The entry-level Select is powered by a 198kW/430Nm single electric motor that drives the rear wheels and draws current from a 71kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering up to 470km of range.

The Premium and GT both have a bigger and more advanced 91kWh nickel cobalt manganese battery pack, with the Premium using a 216kW/430Nm single-motor/RWD powertrain and the GT featuring a 358kW/860Nm dual-motor/all-wheel drive layout that can send the EV from 0-100km/h in 3.7sec.

Driving ranges are quoted at 600km for the Premium and 490km for the GT.

First deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, while there’s no word yet on whether the recently-revealed Mustang Mach-E Rally variant will be offered in our market.

Standard equipment highlights on the Select include a 15-inch infotainment interface supporting wireless smartphone mirroring, dual-zone climate control, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, satellite navigation, a 10-speaker B&O sound system, heated steering wheel, powered tailgate, a 360-degree camera and rain-sensing wipers.

There’s also radar cruise control, FordPass Connect, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heated eight-way power-adjustable front seats, Sensico artificial leather upholstery, three drive modes (Whisper, Active and Untame), full LED exterior lighting and 19-inch alloy wheels with aero inserts.

The Premium builds on this with different alloys, LED projector headlights, red brake callipers, metal finish scuff plates, multi-colour ambient interior lighting and red stitching (versus grey).

Stepping up to the flagship GT adds Ford’s MagneRide adaptive suspension technology, Brembo front brake callipers, ‘Untame Plus’ drive mode, Ford Performance sports front seats, Mikro Suede upholstery accents, 20-inch alloys, sticky 245/45-series tyres and GT-branded metal scuff plates.

Buyers have the choice of seven colours for their new Mach-E: Shadow Black, Space White, Star White, Vapour Blue, Grabber Blue, Rapid Red and Carbonised Grey. Only Shadow Black is available at no extra cost – the rest are deemed ‘prestige’ colours and cost an extra $700.

Reservations for the Mustang Mach-E have been open on Ford Australia’s website (and at dealerships) since May.
