2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E orders open May 10

Ford to offer three powertrain options at launch for long-awaited battery-electric Mustang SUV

Ford Australia will open up online reservations for the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E on Wednesday, May 10, ahead of the long-awaited battery-electric fastback SUV’s launch in the final quarter of this year.

The Blue Oval brand has also announced today that three model variants will be available in Australia – Select, Premium and GT – which span three tiers of performance.

Pricing will finally be revealed next week as the first batch of Mustang Mach-E electric cars go up for grabs.

There’s no word yet on the size of the allocation, with Ford only saying that the first Australian-spec cars are “set to begin production imminently” at its factory in Mexico.

Customers can only reserve a Mach-E via Ford Australia’s website from the afternoon of May 10, rather than at their local dealership, however they’ll need to nominate a preferred dealer when placing the required $1000 deposit online.

At the entry level, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Select uses a single-motor/rear-drive powertrain producing 198kW and 430Nm of torque.

It draws energy from a 71kWh battery that should provide for a driving range of up to 470km, although Ford says that’s TBC “pending final homologation”.

The mid-tier Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium also uses a single e-motor but ups the ante with a higher output of 216kW/430Nm and a longer range of up to 600km from its larger 91kWh battery.

At the top end, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT features a dual-motor/all-wheel drive arrangement that delivers 358kW/860Nm and enables 0-100km/h acceleration in a claimed 3.7 seconds.

The GT uses the larger 91kWh battery and carries a WLTP-verified range of 489km.

Stand by for Mach-E pricing next Wednesday, coinciding with the opening of online reservations.
