2023 Genesis G70 update coming in fourth quarter

Genesis sports sedan and wagon score GV70’s 2.5-litre turbo and Brembo brakes at entry level

The updated 2023 Genesis G70 might look like the current model, but the premium sports sedan and wagon range picks up key mechanical changes including a new entry-level 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

Due on sale in Australia in the fourth quarter of this year, the revised Genesis G70 features the same 224kW/422Nm 2.5-litre mill found in the Genesis GV70 SUV, replacing the previous 2.0-litre turbo (179kW/353Nm).

It also now has a higher-performing Brembo braking package as standard, identified by the red brake callipers inside the new alloy wheels.

Drive is still harnessed by an eight-speed automatic transmission and sent exclusively to the rear wheels, just as it is on the top-shelf 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo (274kW/510Nm) that carries over unchanged.

Adaptive damping remains exclusive to the V6.

However, all versions of the updated Genesis G70 now boast a redesigned dashboard which sees climate control switchgear replaced by a haptic interface.

Shortcut buttons for the 10.25-inch infotainment system have also been revised, while design changes are evident with the air vents, steering wheel stalks and the tiller itself.

Full local pricing and specifications are still to be released.

The current 2.0T sedan starts at $63,000 plus on-road costs, with the Shooting Brake wagon further up the line at $78,191 plus ORCs.

The 3.3T Sport sedan starts at $75,067 plus ORCs.
