2023 Jaguar I-PACE upgraded

Four years after it was introduced, the 2023 Jaguar I-PACE has been freshened up in an attempt to ensure the battery-powered British luxury SUV remains relevant against more modern rivals.

As part of the facelift, the Jaguar I-PACE gets a smoother closed-in front grille that is finished in Atlas grey, replacing the previous versions’ more traditional gloss black mesh grille.

The same grey paint has also been used on the front bumper’s vertical aero blades, while the rear diffuser, lower doors and front bumper are now all body-coloured.

Other changes include a new black and silver Jaguar badge and the addition of a subtle rear spoiler on the flagship 400 Sport model.

Fresh diamond-cut 22-inch alloy wheels are also available that can be combined with self-sealing all-season tyres.

Another new option is a panoramic roof that comes that can be ordered with a black finish for the rear section.

The exterior Black Pack, meanwhile, is now standard on all models from the R-Dynamic SE, adding a gloss black grille surround, window trim, mirror caps and rear badging.

For the first time, two satin paints can be specified – Eiger Grey or Carpathian Grey – in addition to the previous colour palette.

Beneath the skin there’s been no mechanical changes, with the 2023 Jaguar I-PACE carrying over its dual-motor powertrain that continues to pump out 294kW and 696Nm of torque.

That’s enough for a 0-100km/h dash of just 4.8 seconds and a 200km/h top speed.

Powered by a 90kWh lithium-ion battery, the range of the I-PACE remains a WLTP-verified 470km.

Topping up the big battery is still only capable at up to 100kW using a DC charger that is said to add 127km of range in 15 minutes. Using an 11kW wallbox, Jag says 53km of range can be added every hour.

Other changes include introducing new updates for the Jaguar Remote App that is said to be easier to pre-condition the car for hot or cold weather using the climate control while plugged in.

Inside, the current Pivi Pro infotainment system, which incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, hasn’t been overhauled as it is already frequently improved using over-the-air updates.

Jaguar has yet to confirm when the mildly refreshed I-PACE will be introduced in the Australian market.

In other markets, the I-PACE is offered in R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE, R-Dynamic HSE and the 400 Sport, although for our market a slimmed-down line-up is expected to consist of just the R-Dynamic SE and R-Dynamic HSE.
