2023 MINI Clubman Final Edition is last hurrah for British wagon

Special-edition marks end of the road for MINI Clubman after 16 years on sale worldwide

The 2023 MINI Clubman Final Edition has been introduced overseas, marking the last production run for the wagon after two generations and 16 years on sale.

Now available in Europe, the MINI Clubman Final Edition will be limited to just 1969 cars – a reference to when the original Mini Clubman was first launched – and all of them will be powered by the MINI Cooper S version’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder.

The engine produces 131kW and 280Nm of torque, allowing the small wagon to sprint from 0-100km/h in a sprightly 7.3 seconds.

As part of the upgrades, the MINI Clubman Final Edition sits on striking 18-inch alloy wheels that feature a gloss black and copper finish.

The copper theme is repeated on the grille surround, kick plates and four stripes that stretch from the nose across the bonnet and roof to the Clubman’s unusual rear barn doors.

Exterior colours are limited to Nanuq White, Enigmatic Black or Melting Silver.

Inside, the limited-edition gets an 8.8-inch infotainment system that incorporates Apple CarPlay. A reversing camera, parking sensors and a premium sound system are all included.

Other goodies thrown in include a panoramic roof and rear privacy glass, plus a Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel and caramel-coloured leather sports seats with ‘Final Edition’ branding.

On the passenger side of the cabin there’s also a plaque with the build number ‘X of 1969’.

There’s no word yet if any of the special-editions will make it Down Under.

BMW-owned MINI has also yet to officially announce when production of the wagon will end, but the British-based brand has already confirmed there will be no successor.

Instead, the wagon will be indirectly replaced by the all-electric MINI Aceman SUV in 2025.

Currently, the cheapest MINI Clubman Cooper S Classic is priced from $49,700 plus on-road costs in Australia.
