2024 Audi Q7 and Q8 pricing announced

The facelifted 2024 Audi Q7 and Q8 have arrived Down Under priced from $117,284 and $143,415 plus on-road costs respectively, but the future of the Q8 e-tron electric SUV is now under a cloud.

Neither large luxury SUV has been radically overhauled as part of the 2024 update; instead they’ve been subtly massaged in a few key areas to make them competitive with rivals like the BMW X5 and X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and wagon, and Porsche Cayenne Coupe and wagon.

Starting with the Q7, Audi Australia has made an interesting move by lowering most of its asking prices by up to $585, while the entry-level 45 TDI quattro has increased by almost $900 to the $117,284 price mentioned above.

The predominantly lower asking prices inject more value into the range, given the updated Q7 flaunts an updated exterior design, a new paint colour palette, new interior trim materials and an upgraded infotainment system offering crisper graphics, faster responses and more intuitive menus and controls.

All Aussie-delivered Q7s ride on adaptive air suspension as standard, though no changes have been made to either the chassis or the range of turbocharged mild-hybrid engines available under the bonnet.

The popular 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 remains good for between 170kW/500Nm and 210kW/600Nm depending on the variant – 45 TDI quattro or 50 TDI quattro S line.

And the 3.0-litre petrol V6 in the 55 TFSI continues to output 250kW/500Nm, while the SQ7’s twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 continues to rumble out 373kW/770Nm.

It’s largely the same story for the 2024 Audi Q8 line-up, except for the coupe-style SUV’s introduction of Matrix LED headlights and the etching of its nameplate into the B-pillar.

Q8 prices are up between $1015-$4515 depending on the variant, with the base grade once receiving the biggest price hike – even compared to the SQ8 (see below).

As with Q7, none of the powertrains have been touched as part of the Q8 facelift, which means outputs still vary from 210kW/600Nm (diesel) and 250kW/500Nm (petrol) through to 373kW/770Nm for the SQ8 TFSI.

“The new Q7 and Q8 range epitomises Audi’s dedication to continuous improvement and performance, particularly in the areas of design, technology, and efficiency,” said Audi Australia managing director Jeff Mannering.

“These vehicles are not just evolutions of their predecessors; they represent a step forward in our commitment to a premium driving experience.”

Whether or not the recently-released Q8 e-tron remains a left-field contributor to that cause for much longer remains to be seen, however, following news of a ‘restructure’ at the Brussels plant that produces it.

In no uncertain terms, the German car-maker this week said it’s “considering the early end of production of the Audi Q8 e-tron” due to a downturn in the number of orders for the battery-electric luxury SUV.

“The announcement of the intention does not mean that a decision has been made,” said Audi Brussels CEO Volker Germann this week.

“Nevertheless, this news has been felt very profoundly by the employees in Brussels and by me too.

“A transparent and constructive dialog is important in the process that will follow. We will take all perspectives into account.”

If the plug is pulled on Q8 e-tron production in Brussels, odds are it will continue to be available Down Under for some time yet, given the number of vehicles already in transit and previously allocated to Australia.

Meantime, Audi Australia is yet to provide an ETA for the updated RS Q8 and RS Q8 Performance twins.
