Audi Australia has announced pricing and specs for its overhauled 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron line-up, headed by the introduction of a new base model that slashes $14,000 off the battery-electric luxury SUV’s entry price.
The move comes in the wake of other EV makers like Tesla, Polestar and Nissan discounting their models to maintain sales momentum and increase consumer appeal.
The 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron range now starts at $140,600 plus on-road costs for the new Q8 50 e-tron quattro, which replaces the now-axed Q8 55 e-tron quattro SUV wagon (previously $154,600 plus ORCs) as the entry point to the line-up.
The Q8 50 e-tron quattro employs a smaller 95kWh battery pack than the 55 e-tron – which used a 114kWh and is still available as a Sportback – as well as a lower power output of 250kW (down 50kW). Maximum torque remains at 664Nm.
Standard equipment on the newcomer includes 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive air suspension, LED headlights with rear dynamic indicators, electric tailgate with gesture control, interior ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a head-up display and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit.
Infotainment functions are accessed via dual centre touch-screens housing Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and digital radio.
The now-solitary Audi Q8 55 Sportback e-tron quattro is priced from $166,600 plus ORCs – an increase of $700 – and adds an S line exterior styling package, larger 21-inch alloy wheels, sport front seats, Valcona leather upholstery, four-zone climate control and electric steering wheel adjustment.
Headlining the Q8 e-tron range is the Audi e-tron SQ8, which offers a superior tri-motor EV set-up good for 370kW and 973Nm.
A replacement for the previous e-tron S, the SQ8 e-tron adds S-specific front and rear bumpers, grille, side sills and tailgate spoiler, a panoramic sunroof, red brake callipers, 22-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, S sport front seats, 16-speaker audio system, sports steering wheel with heating and metallic paint.
The entire Q8 e-tron and SQ8 e-tron range offer noteworthy aftersales credentials, including a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty as well as six years’ complimentary roadside assist.
Every model also comes with complimentary servicing and free public charging via the Chargefox national network for the first six years of ownership.
