The 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro has been priced from a sharp $39,990 drive-away as the company opens the order book today for its all-new mid-size SUV ahead of first deliveries scheduled for the final quarter of this year.
Joining the Chery Omoda 5 small SUV in the Chinese brand’s Australian stable, the five-seater Tiggo 7 Pro is available in three model grades – entry-level Urban (from $39,990), mid-range Elite (from $41,990) and flagship Ultimate (from $45,990).
All are powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 137kW/275Nm and combines with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Running on 95 RON premium unleaded fuel, the 1.6T drives the front wheels on the Urban and Elite, enabling combined-cycle fuel consumption of 7.0L/100km, while the Ultimate has four-wheel drive and returns 7.8L/100km.
Measuring 4513mm long, 1862mm wide, 1696mm tall, and spanning 2670mm between the axles, the Tiggo 7 Pro is at the smaller end of the mid-size SUV segment but remains competitive for this class – casting a similar shadow to the Mazda CX-5.
Boot space is a generous 626 litres behind the second row, expanding to 1672L when the split-folding rear bench is stowed.
Standard equipment included on the entry-level Urban isn’t what we’re typically used to seeing on a base model, let alone one costing less than $40,000 on the road.
Just some of the highlights include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, artificial leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone mirroring, adjustable ambient lighting, sat-nav, an eight-speaker Sony sound system and voice command.
The extra $2000 asked by the Elite will net buyers a 360-degree camera, auto-folding mirrors, power tailgate, illuminated sills, an air quality management system, negative ion air freshener and a cargo blind.
As well as featuring all-wheel drive, the Ultimate adds bigger 19-inch alloys, three additional drive modes (Snow/Mud/Off-road), red front brake callipers, memory function for the driver’s seat and mirrors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and ventilated front seats.
All variants come with adaptive cruise control and a swag of driver assist safety features including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), rear cross traffic alert, emergency lane keeping, front collision warning and traffic sign recognition.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is covered by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with up to seven years of roadside assistance thrown in.
Seven years of capped-price servicing is also offered with intervals set at 12 months/10,000km, while the first 500 customers to order a vehicle from today get the first three years (or 30,000km) covered free of charge.
