2024 Genesis Electrified G80 grows in size and range

New design, longer wheelbase, more room, more toys and bigger for upgraded large luxury electric sedan

The 2024 Genesis Electrified G80 has been facelifted, extended, given a larger battery pack and will arrive Down Under in the coming months.

The updated large electric luxury sedan’s bigger battery (now 95.4kWh – up from 87.2kWh) is accommodated by a 130mm wheelbase extension (now 3140mm) and extends the G80 Electrified’s cruising range from 427km to 475km on the Korean test cycle, pointing to a WLTP range of between 570-600km (up from 520km).

Odds are the new battery is derived from the high-performance unit that powers the Genesis G80 EV Magma concept, in a similar way to how the facelifted IONIQ 5 electric SUV range inherits the N version’s new-generation battery.

Another contributing factor to the Electrified G80’s improved range is its sleeker new exterior design and more aerodynamic 19-inch wheels.

Changes to the front fascia include a redesigned and retextured grille, new ‘micro lens array’ headlights and a new, more aggressive bumper design in line with the combustion-powered version that debuted in facelifted form late last year.

Naturally, the stretched wheelbase liberates noticeably more room inside – especially at the rear, where you’ll also find reclining VIP rear seats with leg rests and memory function, as well as a button-based ‘EasyClose’ rear door system.

Changes at the front of the cabin are headlined by the Korean premium brand’s new 27-inch dual-screen multimedia display, which houses both the digital instrument cluster and infotainment display.

All these new convenience features – not to mention the longer body and bigger battery – will almost certainly inflate the all-wheel drive Electrified G80’s already-high price in Australia ($145,675 plus on-road costs), where the updated flagship sedan is likely to surpass the $150,000 mark.

The updated Electrified G80 will likely arrive in local showrooms alongside or shortly after the facelifted combustion versions of the G80, which is currently priced from $85,670 for the rear-drive 2.5-litre four-cylinder version and from $114,670 for the AWD 3.5-litre petrol V6.
