Honda Australia has received an influx of Honda Civic Type R stock, so much so that the two-year waiting list for the new-generation hot hatch has been cleared.
This in turn means wait times for the 2024 Honda Civic Type R are now at an all-time low, however, whether there’s any stock remaining and readily available for new customers remains to be seen.
The Civic Type R has long been classed as royalty in the local hot hatch scene, with the previous and current generations upping the ante to become the undisputed class-leaders in their segment, offering more poise and track performance than any of their mainstream or premium rivals.
You do of course have to pay for the pleasure and, at $72,600 drive-away, the front-drive Civic performance flagship is far from cheap, but that didn’t stop a near two-year wait list from forming within weeks of the model’s Australian release in January last year.
Fast-forward to May 2023 and Honda had secured an extra 500 units for our market, slicing delivery wait times in half, and the Japanese brand says the remaining order bank has now been cleared.
The latest Type R is the ultimate front-drive hot hatch and has endeared itself so much to us here at carsales that we reckon its Volkswagen Golf R-busting price tag is more than warranted.
