Hyundai Australia has confirmed new details for its 2024 Hyundai i30 hybrid-powered sedan, including a range of extra features the entry-level petrol-electric model gets over its combustion-engined counterpart.
Priced from $33,000 plus on-road costs – or at a promotional $35,990 drive-away price announced today – the base-grade 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan Hybrid adds multi-link rear suspension designed to improve ride quality, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and leather-appointed steering wheel and gear shifter as standard.
A space-saver spare wheel is also part of the package.
Hyundai says it has 200 units of the Hyundai i30 Sedan Hybrid arriving in Australia in January, with 400 more cars arriving next month.
That should result in a customer delivery time of less than three months for new orders, based on current demand.
The i30 is available in hatchback and sedan body styles and was the top-selling small car in 2023, its 20,626 sales beating former champion Toyota Corolla (19,986).
Details of the updated 2024 Hyundai i30 sedan were released late last year, including the addition of three new hybrid models to tackle Toyota Corolla Hybrid.
Only the entry-level i30 hybrid sedan has been priced at this stage, with details for the higher-spec Elite and Premium to be announced closer to their launch in the second quarter.
The i30 N Line and N Line Premium models will not be offered with a hybrid powertrain at launch.
The plug-less hybrid models use a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol-electric powertrain that drives the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Peak power is 104kW combined, with the hybrid system drawing on its small electric motor (32kW/170Nm) and 1.3kWh battery to “deliver strong performance, a familiar drive experience and 2.8L/100km ADR urban cycle fuel economy”, according to Hyundai.
Peak torque is expected to be 265Nm.
Combined-cycle fuel consumption is 3.9L/100km, the same as the Toyota Corolla hybrid sedan (from $32,110 plus on-road costs).
The full 2024 Hyundai i30 sedan range comprises five model grades, all of which feature subtle new design tweaks and improved equipment levels, not to mention price hikes of up to $4000.
Prices start at $29,000 plus ORCs for the entry-level 2024 Hyundai i30 sedan, representing an increase of $3000 compared to the previous price-leading i30 Active.
Top-spec i30 Sedan N Line Premium models top out at $41,500 plus ORCs. See below for the price breakdown.
The entry i30 sedan now comes standard with LED headlights and daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors, an intelligent speed limit assist system and a more advanced forward collision-avoidance assist system.
It also gets 16-inch alloy wheels along with patterned black cloth seats.
While i30 Elite and Premium variants are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (117kW/191Nm) mated to a continuously variable automatic, N Line models get a more powerful 1.6-litre turbo-petrol four (150kW/265Nm).
