The 2024 INEOS Grenadier Quartermaster Chassis Cab has emerged in Britain and is heading to Australia in the third quarter of this year, priced from $102,000 plus on-road costs.
Featuring the same mechanical hardware, dimensions and capability as the regular Quartermaster, the new cab-chassis model is primed for Australian owners to customise the go-anywhere 4x4 ute to their specific needs.
The removal of the tub also sees $8000 shaved off the dual-cab’s starting price, but there are no other omissions, meaning the new Quartermaster Chassis Cab offers the same rugged ladder-frame chassis, 3227mm wheelbase, 264mm of ground clearance, 3500kg braked towing capacity and BMW-sourced inline six-cylinder powertrain options as the pick-up.
The latter comprises a 210kW/450Nm 3.0-litre turbo-petrol and gutsier 183kW/550Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel, both paired with a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission, full-time four-wheel drive system and Tremec low-range transfer case.
There is already a growing number of specialist Quartermaster conversions and fit-outs in the marketplace, including for emergency services, and INEOS is now hoping to reel-in a broader range of buyers with the cab-chassis version.
“Launching the Quartermaster Chassis Cab is a natural step that takes our off-road expertise into many commercial areas that need a class-leading 4X4,” said INEOS Automotive commercial director George Ratcliffe.
“The Grenadier's body-on-frame construction already provides huge versatility for customisation, and we know from customer configurations that our vehicles are being used equally between commercial and leisure users.
“The ‘blank canvas’ Chassis Cab variant allows even greater versatility, from the basic trayback for agricultural use through recovery and emergency services to tourism, presenting an ideal platform for an overlanding camper.”
There’s no word yet on whether the Chassis Cab will be offered in a variety of model grades, such as Trialmaster and Fieldmaster – as found on the regular Quartermaster ute.
Expressions of interest are now being taken, ahead of further details and first deliveries later this year.
