2024 McLaren 750S makes Aussie debut

First example of 720S replacement arrives Down Under ahead of first local deliveries early next year

The new 2024 McLaren 750S made its Australian debut in Sydney this week, fresh from the international launch of the all-new supercar in Portugal last week.

McLaren won’t say how many local orders it has received, but first Australian deliveries of the 720S replacement will commence in early 2024.

Pricing was previously announced at $585,800 plus on-road costs for the coupe and $654,600 plus ORCs for the Spider, marking a significant uplift over the 720S.

Pictured here at Bangarra Wharf in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the McLaren 750S claims new performance benchmarks including 0-100km/h acceleration in just 2.8 seconds and 0-200km/h acceleration in only 7.2sec (7.3 for the Spider, which weighs 49kg more).

This is thanks to a segment-leading power-to-weight ratio of 587ps per tonne and a minimum dry weight of just 1277kg – 30kg less than the 720S and 193kg less than its nearest competitor, the Ferrari 296 GTB (1470kg dry).

It's also thanks to a more powerful 552kW/800Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, matched to a seven-speed automatic transmission, which makes the 750S the most powerful series-production McLaren to date – as well as the lightest.

Also new for the carbon-fibre monocoque supercar are an all-new interior, carbonfibre-shelled racing seats and the lightest wheels ever fitted as standard by McLaren.

“For 60 years, our past has fuelled our future. At McLaren Racing, every second can make a meaningful difference on the track for our F1 drivers. At McLaren Automotive, this same DNA drives us, every small change yields significant results,” said McLaren Automotive’s APAC and China managing director, Paul Harris.

“It is this ethos from which the 750S was created, carrying this DNA into a new era. It improves everything that matters to a driver and raises the supercar benchmark that we previously set so high with the 720S.

“Drivers have long revered McLaren as the epitome of driving performance and the reputation of 720S meant that 750S needed scrupulous consideration to create a supercar that enhanced its predecessor.

“Supreme attention to detail has allowed us to produce a lighter iteration with truly outstanding dynamic abilities. As with all McLarens, it offers an immersive and exhilarating driving experience that delivers a truly emotional connection for the driver.”

The McLaren 750S is covered by a three-year vehicle warranty and a three-year scheduled service plan as standard.
