2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet price and specs

Mercedes’ all-new soft-top to be offered in a single CLE 300 model variant at launch, $10K upstream of its coupe sibling

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet will start from $135,000 plus on-road costs when it arrives in Australian showrooms later this month.

Just one model variant will be offered at launch, the CLE 300 4MATIC convertible, positioned $10,100 upstream of the equivalent coupe.

Pitched as the two-in-one replacement for the previous C-Class and E-Class Cabriolets, the CLE soft-top is Mercedes-Benz’s new-generation answer to the BMW 4 Series Convertible and soon-to-be-retired Audi A5 Cabriolet.

The singular, well-specified variant’s equipment list is headlined by an AMG Line leather interior, a 17-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system, 11.9-inch MBUX infotainment system with the Navigation Premium package and augmented reality, a head-up display, heated front seats with memory function, wireless phone charging and dual-zone climate control.

It also has Active Parking Assist, a 360-degree camera, projector LED headlights, 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels and adaptive cruise control.

The CLE Cabriolet boasts a couple of neat features over the coupe, including the ability to adjust the orientation of the infotainment screen – to reduce reflections when the roof is down – along with a seat belt feeder and special treatment for the leather upholstery to help reflect heat when in direct sunlight.

The roof itself is fabric and can be lowered or raised in about 20 seconds at speeds of up to 60km/h.

Behind the roof compartment is a 295-litre boot, a figure which increases to 385L when the roof is up, with more room on offer via the 60/40-split folding rear seats.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid assistance, producing 190kW and 400Nm of torque.

Gear-shifting duties are handled by a nine-speed automatic transmission, combining with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system to launch the CLE 300 4MATIC Cabriolet from 0-100km/h in a claimed 6.6 seconds.

There’s no CLE 200 entry model in the Aussie cabrio range at launch, as found with the coupe (priced from $103,900 plus ORCs), but a Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 flagship could emerge down the track, joining the forthcoming hard-top version.

How much does the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE cost?
200 – $103,900
300 4MATIC – $124,900
300 4MATIC Cabriolet – $135,000
* Prices exclude on-road costs
