2024 MINI Cooper 5 Door priced

Pricing and equipment details for British small-car brand’s upcoming Cooper 5 Door announced

The 2024 MINI Cooper 5 Door will be priced from $43,990 plus on-road costs when it arrives here in the fourth quarter of this year (October-December).

Six variants of the new five-door hatchback will be offered in total across the turbo-petrol 1.5-litre C and 2.0-litre S range, with prices ranging from under $44K and $56,990 plus ORCs for the top-spec Cooper S JCW Sport.

One key point of difference between the new MINI Cooper 3 Door and 5 Door line-ups is the latter’s omission of a battery-electric system.

This is a combustion-only model line for the time being and the same turbo-petrol powertrains are seen elsewhere in the MINI and BMW Australia portfolios.

The 1.5-litre three-cylinder ‘C’ powertrain variants output 115kW/230Nm and are claimed to hit 100km/h in 8.0 seconds, while the 2.0-litre four-cylinder ‘S’ pumps out 150kW/300Nm and hits the tonne in 6.8sec.

Both units drive the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.

Standard equipment highlights for the entry-level C Core include a 9.4-inch circular centre screen, a head-up display, cruise control, parking assistant with front sensors and rear camera, a six-speaker sound system, sport seats and steering wheel, wireless phone projection and charging, piano-black trim and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The C Classic ($46,990 plus ORCs) builds on this with adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, automatic speed limit assistant, steering and lane control assistant, interior camera, augmented reality sat-nav, heated front seats and a panorama glass roof.

Above that, the C Favoured ($49,990 plus ORCs) adds a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon premium sound system, power-adjustable John Cooper Works seats with active functions for the driver, memory function, sun protection glazing, a black headliner and silver trim highlights.

The Cooper S family meantime starts from $51,990 in Classic guise, with equipment highlights largely mirroring those of the C version – albeit with the punchier engine and multiple drive modes, and the same is true of the Favoured version ($54,990 plus ORCs).

The flagship S JCW Sport, meantime, ups the ante with a John Cooper Works steering wheel, body kit, sport brakes and interior (black and red), adaptive suspension, paddle shifters and sport stripes.

“Whether it’s navigating the concrete jungle or a spirited weekend adventure, the new MINI Cooper 5 Door offers a blend of the beloved MINI character and everyday usability,” said MINI Australia and New Zealand general manager Alexander Brockhoff.

“It’s the ideal option for drivers seeking the fun and engaging drive of the MINI Cooper 3 Door in a more flexible and spacious silhouette.”

Four exterior paint colours will be available for the Cooper C Core, seven for the Classic and S Classic, and 10 for the Favoured, Favoured and JCW Sport.
