UPDATED 10/08/2023 1:20pm: Nissan has advised that all 100 examples of the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO initially earmarked for Australia are now sold, with the entire allocation exhausted within an hour of online reservations opening this week.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE PUBLISHED 07/08/2023 11:35am: Australian pricing for the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO has been set at $95,000 ahead of first local deliveries in the closing stages of this year, however, supply will be limited to just 100 units in the first allocation.
As expected, the new Nissan Z coupe flagship commands a hefty price premium (+19,200) over the standard Z, which also cops a $2500 price hike, but as reported earlier this month the extra cash will net buyers some serious upgrades in the form of extra power and torque, racier suspension, bigger brakes and a bunch of other NISMO-spec enhancements.
Outputs for the twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 have been boosted to 309kW/510Nm (+11kW/45Nm) – less than the 313kW/521Nm figures announced at the model’s global reveal last week – thanks to a new electronic wastegate controller (more boost), bespoke ignition timing strategy and a more efficient cooling system.
The enhanced engine is paired exclusively to a fettled nine-speed automatic transmission that features a new ‘Sport+’ drive mode designed specifically for track use, bringing faster shifts and an altered shift logic that’s said to be so good that drivers won’t need to use the paddle shifters.
The auto-only Nissan Z NISMO also comes with stiffer springs, dampers and beefier anti-roll bars, plus a reinforced underbody, stickier Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX GT600 tyres and lightweight 19-inch Rays alloys.
There’s also new suspension and steering rack bushings, and larger front (380mm) and rear (350mm) brake rotors clamped by more aggressive brake pads.
Other enhancements comprise NISMO-tuned launch control and active sound control systems, red interior trim, red graphics for the displays, NISMO-branded Recaro seats, a NISMO steering wheel and of course the unique exterior design that’s radically different to the standard Z coupe’s in the name of aerodynamics.
The NISMO largely matches its donor vehicle for standard equipment beyond the upgrades mentioned above, meaning headline kit includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 8.0-inch infotainment interface, smartphone mirroring, adaptive cruise control, a reversing camera and parking sensors at both ends.
A limited-slip rear differential is fitted as standard to all Nissan Zs sold in Australia.
Customers still waiting for their standard Z or the limited-run Z Proto are being given first pick of the 100-unit Z NISMO allocation – specifically the option to transfer their order to the flagship – before reservations officially open at 11:00am this Thursday (August 10), on a first-in-best-dressed basis.
“The Z NISMO is a true sports car flagship, with Nissan’s engineers leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of performance,” said Nissan Australia managing director Adam Paterson.
“We wanted to extend our thanks to those already awaiting their Z by offering them a chance to secure a Z NISMO, while still ensuring this special vehicle is made available to Z fans across the country.
“There are going to be even more very happy Z fans across Australia, and I can’t wait to see the Z NISMO join the Z Coupe and Z Proto on Australian roads.”
With the NISMO set to be badged and sold as an MY24 variant, the new model year has also brought a price $2500 increase for the standard Z, which now starts from $75,800 plus on-road costs regardless of the transmission choice.
There are no changes to standard specifications accompanying the Nissan Z price increase, save for the new ‘New Site Orange’ exterior paint colour.
