2024 Peugeot E-3008 breaks cover

But this is just another taster – the all-new small electric-only SUV will be fully revealed and detailed later this week

The new 2024 Peugeot E-3008 was confirmed to be an electric-only small SUV in January and then previewed again in July, and now the French brand has released a series of preview images showcasing the new EV’s exterior and interior designs ahead of its full reveal this Tuesday night.

Whereas the current Peugeot 3008 is offered with the choice of pure-combustion and plug-in hybrid powertrains, the new-generation compact SUV will ride on the Stallantis Group’s all-new STLA Medium architecture and available with only battery-electric power.

This radical shake-up is reflected in the model’s exterior design, which for the most part resembles a downsized version of the upcoming new Peugeot 408, with a few more traditional SUV touches – like some rounded edges – thrown in for good measure.

Peugeot specifically describes the new E-3008 as an “all-new electric fastback SUV”, which is a major departure from the wagon-shaped current 3008 that will probably continue to be available in Australia for at least another 12-18 months.

But that and the local release of the new E-3008 could depend on how warmly Aussie consumers welcome Peugeot’s other inbound electric models later this year, including the new E-208 and e-2008.

The E-3008’s sharp new exterior is matched by a previously seen but equally futuristic interior that’s awash with angles, creases, technology and multiple levels.

We’re still waiting for concrete details on the E-3008’s mechanical make-up, but Peugeot has already promised an effective driving range of up to 700km from the most efficient version, with three powertrains set to be offered globally.

The big reveal will take place at 8.30pm AEST on September 12, so look out for our coverage with all the details on Wednesday morning.
