2024 Peugeot E-3008 here this year

Peugeot Australia has confirmed the 2024 Peugeot E-3008 for local release in the second half of this year and subsequently opened expressions of interest for the all-new mid-size electric SUV, however, local pricing detail are yet to be confirmed.

The battery-electric Peugeot E-3008 will be yet another rival for the best-selling Tesla Model Y and promises some big numbers to help it be as attractive as possible to buyers around the world, but especially in Australia where we have some vast distances to cover.

Maximum range is claimed to be up to 700km for the mid-range single-motor powertrain, which features a 170kW motor and a big 98kWh battery pack.

The other single-motor option delivers 157kW and will cover up to 535km thanks to a 73kWh battery, which also powers the flagship dual-motor version that outputs 240kW yet somehow offers an identical range.

Peugeot Australia is yet to confirm which powertrains will be coming to our market, but either way the E-3008 will be competitive with EVs like the Model Y, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Toyota bZ4X – at least in terms of power and performance.

Pricing could be another story, based on what we’ve seen from the French brand in the past, given its EVs have traditionally come here fully loaded and priced towards the upper reaches of their respective segments.

“The E-3008 SUV will join a growing range of 100 per cent electric Peugeot vehicles available for Australian consumers including the E-Partner Van and E-2008 SUV, both already on sale, the E-308 Hatch and E-Expert Van, both also slated for launch in the second half of the year, and the E-208, set to arrive in 2024,” said Peugeot Australia today.

“Further information on the next-level E-3008, including Australian specification and pricing, will be confirmed at a later date.”

The swoopy E-3008 will share the mid-size SUV segment with the equally-svelte Peugeot 408 fastback SUV – the main difference being the latter’s plug-in hybrid powertrain rather than a battery-electric set-up.
