2024 Subaru Forester leaked

The all-new 2024 Subaru Forester has been leaked ahead of its world debut at the Los Angeles motor show this week, showing off a conservative exterior and interior design that doesn’t rock the boat.

Revealed in no fewer than 49 official press photos published to image sharing platform Imgur and social media aggregator Reddit over the weekend, the new design should keep Subaru loyalists happy with the most significant design modifications being slim-line LED headlights and triangular front fog lights.

The rest of the exterior design retains the tall and boxy aesthetic of the current Subaru Forester released in 2018.

Chunky new exhaust outlets and reworked LED tail-light clusters adorn the rear-end, while bronze alloy wheels are colour-coded with brassy accents on the bumpers and side skirts.

The interior of the new 2024 Subaru Forester appears to lift much of its components from newer siblings like the WRX and Outback, starting with a vertically aligned (portrait-style) central touch-screen that reduces the number of physical buttons and dials.

The leaked images make it difficult to tell if the new Forester gets a digital instrument cluster but it’s highly likely to feature at least on up-spec variants.

Technical specifications and powertrain details were not leaked but Subaru recently claimed the new Forester will be a “an all-new fully redesigned vehicle” in an official teaser release.

However, it’s widely expected that the ‘all-new’ sixth-gen 2024 Subaru Forester will be based on the same platform architecture as the current model.

As such, it’s likely to employ the same four-cylinder petrol boxer engines as its predecessor, albeit with a few tweaks to improve power output and fuel-efficiency.

Aussie Forester fans will also be hoping to see the Forester XT return for the new generation, with the beefy 2.4-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Outback XT, potentially adding a performance flagship offering outputs of around183kW/350Nm.

There’s been a lot of talk about a tougher Wilderness variant coming to Australia as well, with greater ride height, modified suspension and all-terrain tyres to add a little more off-road tenacity.
