2024 Toyota Tacoma reveal locked in, paving way for next HiLux

Details on next-gen 2025 Toyota HiLux to emerge on May 19 with debut of new Tacoma ute in US

Toyota USA has locked in a May 19 reveal for its all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma, which will have loads in common with the next-generation Toyota HiLux due in Australia by 2025.

Although the US-market Tacoma has traditionally been slightly larger than the global HiLux, both new mid-size utes are set to be based on Toyota’s new TNGA-F ladder-frame platform and share a significant amount of hardware and technology.

Toyota has already confirmed petrol-electric hybrid power for the new Tacoma range, as well as the inclusion of disc rear brakes and Fox suspension on TRD versions.

Other powertrain details are still to be confirmed, although American owners can count on a V6 petrol option and Aussies should have no concern that diesel power will disappear from our market.

Toyota released fresh teaser images for the upcoming Tacoma overnight, showing the side profile (in shadow) for the various body styles to be offered.

These include single-cab and double-cab pick-ups and a long-wheelbase double-cab – the latter including a stretched TRD hero model with unique sailplane, roof platform and recovery hooks.
