2024 Volvo EM90 electric people-mover set for November 12 debut

Fresh teasers of the incoming all-electric 2024 Volvo EM90 people-mover have been posted on the Swedish brand’s social channels, showing off more of the Lexus LM rival ahead of its full reveal on November 12.

The latest images show off the family wagon’s side profile, as well as key design cues like the LED tail-lights, shark fin antenna and silver and black wheels rims.

You can also see an illuminated grille decal and part of Volvo’s trademark ‘Thor’s hammer’ LED daytime running lamps.

Set to be twinned with the Zeekr 009 that’s already available in China, the Volvo EM90 will be built on the largest derivative of Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform and has been developed to offer levels of comfort not seen before from the Swedish brand.

It will come with a six-seat layout that should offer captain’s chairs in the second and third rows, each able to swivel and recline. An even more luxurious version might even offer airline business class-style armchairs that fully recline.

Set to be priced well above the Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria, the Volvo EM90 looks set to line up against the new $160,000-plus Lexus LM that’s due to launch in Australia late this year.

The Zeekr 009 features a 400kW/686Nm dual-motor powertrain that can send the MPV from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.6sec, which if translated to the EM90 could make it one of the quickest Volvo cars ever produced.

Battery packs could also be as large as 140kWh, allowing for a range of more than 800km.
