The 2024 XPeng G6 has been priced from $54,800 plus on-road costs, meaning the Chinese newcomer undercuts the best-selling Tesla Model Y it’s hoping to rattle.
Two versions are being offered from launch Down Under; the entry-level Standard Range and the dearer ($59,800) Long Range, both of which share a common equipment list: 20-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, a 15-inch touchscreen, smartphone mirroring, a 10.2-inch digital cockpit, heated and ventilated front seats, faux leather upholstery, panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control and an 18-speaker sound system.
Other inclusions comprise six-way power-adjustment for the front seats, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel and rear seats, powered tailgate and rain-sensing wipers.
The difference between them then comes down to the single-motor powertrains, more specifically the batteries sustaining them and their power outputs.
Powering the 190kW/440Nm Standard Range is a 66kWh lithium-ion unit offering up to 435km of WLTP range while the Long Range features a bigger and more advanced 87.5kWh nickel manganese cobalt set-up providing up to 570km of range, plus an inflated 210kW peak power output.
TrueEV claims the Standard range will launch from 0-100km/h in a spritely 6.6 seconds while the Long Range will clock 6.2s.
“We’re proud to offer the XPeng G6 to Australian customers at such a competitive price, with premium features included as a standard,” company CEO Jason Clarke said.
“This reflects our ongoing commitment to deliver exceptional value for an EV that sets new market standards locally.
“We can’t wait for our customers to get behind the wheel of their new XPeng G6.”
The G6 is backed by a five-year/120,000km warranty from the outset with an optional five-year extension available, with an eight-year/160,000km warranty covering the battery – a two-year extension is optionally available.
Deliveries will start in late October with servicing to be provided by third-party specialist Ultra Tune.
