Aussie Alfa Romeo collectors will need to be quick to snap up one of just 50 special edition Intensa models with just 10 examples of the Tonale and Stelvio coming here, plus 30 Giulias. Dipped in gold and equipped with uprated suspension and enhanced driver aids, there’s no extra performance for the trio of special Alfas but the asking prices are certainly higher than standard.
A trio of special edition Alfa Romeo Intensa models is on sale in strictly limited numbers and with a range of aesthetic tweaks.
Based on the mid-level Veloce trim, the new Giulia Intensa is priced from $84,990 plus on-road costs and the Stelvio Intensa from $94,490, representing premiums of $8540 and $8500 respectively.
Both come powered by an untouched 206kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine.
The Tonale Intensa Hybrid meantime is priced from $69,990, making it a whopping $11,090 more than its donor vehicle. Like the other two, the model’s standard 118kW 1.5-litre mild-hybrid powertrain is untouched.
In exchange for the extra cash there’s a range of dynamic enhancements, including dual-stage valve suspension for the Tonale and upgraded ‘synaptic dynamic control’ (SDC) suspension for the Giulia and Stelvio.
All three models also come equipped with Alfa’s Active Driving Assist which provides Level 2 autonomous driving functionality.
Outside, the Intensa Series gains gold trim details, Italian flag badges on the side mirrors and a sunroof.
Light gold two-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels also come as standard – 19-inch for the Giulia and 20s for SUVs – along with black brake callipers with matching gold Alfa Romeo lettering.
Inside, various bronze additions include embroidered Alfa Romeo lettering on the front headrests, a two-tone steering wheel and rotary-style gear selector for the Tonale, which also nabs Alcantara-clad seats.
Meanwhile, both the Giulia and Stelvio gain leather seats with tan stitching across the dash, door panels and centre armrest.
‘Intensa’ badging is embroidered and heat-embossed on the inner side panels of the front seats, adding a unique touch.
The current Stelvio and Giulia are both in the twilight years of their model lives and are due for replacement shortly whereas the Tonale is Alfa’s second-newest model behind the Junior and pitched to be one of the brand’s biggets sellers.
