2025 Alfa Romeo Junior arrives in Aus

You have the choice of mild hybrid or BEV powertrain for your single-grade small Italian SUV

The 2025 Alfa Romeo Junior will arrive in showrooms this month priced from $45,900 plus on-road costs, with just two versions set to be offered.

That starting figure applies to the Ibrida mild hybrid and rises to $57,900 when referring to the battery-electric Elettrica on account of its more advanced powertrain.

Starting with the Ibrida, the cheapest Junior features a 107kW/230Nm, 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine supported by a 48-volt electric motor (21kW) that drives the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Alfa says the system will return a combined fuel consumption of 4.1 litres per 100km and launch from 0-100km/h in 8.9 seconds, with the motor taking care of parking, creeping and stop-start duties – but without providing meaningful electric propulsion.

The Elettrica meantime outputs 117kW/260Nm from a singular e-motor on the front axle and will cover up to 407km on a full charge of its 54kWh battery pack, however the 0-100km/h time is marginally slower (9.0s) on account of its extra weight.

Both versions share a common specification and equipment list with headline inclusions comprising 18-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, heated sport seats with leather-accented upholstery, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, wireless phone projection, a six-speaker sound system, connected services, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, single-zone climate control, keyless go and a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Key safety equipment and driver aids meantime extend to Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities, autonomous emergency braking with vulnerable road user detection, adaptive cruise control, reversing camera with dynamic lines, blind spot assist, a lane support system, driver behaviour warning, traffic sign recognition and intelligent speed control and tyre pressure monitoring.

The EV can be recharged at up to 100kW when using a DC fast-charger – 10-80 per cent in about half an hour – and 11kW on three-phase AC power.

Six colours are available with white being the default option, however all are paired with a black roof for a bit of extra style.
