The 2025 Alfa Romeo Visconti has seemingly been leaked online months ahead of the all-new light SUV’s global reveal next year, revealing a surprisingly chunky and sporty aesthetic compared to the related Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600e.
A series of pre-release images and graphics were leaked to Cochespias over the weekend – supposedly by one of Alfa Romeo’s graphic designers – and subsequently posted to Instagram for the world to see, though even the Spanish publication has questioned their validity.
“Alfa’s new BSUV leaked? We have received these new images from Alfa’s graphics designer that show a suspected electric SUV,” the social media caption reads.
“Will it be real or fake?”
The images certainly appear official and look like they’ve been plucked from an internal or media presentation detailing the new baby Alfa SUV, which is expected to launch globally next year exclusively with electric power before petrol and hybrid versions materialise later.
Fake or not, the Visconti’s hero image would have some believe there’ll be a high-performance GTA version based on the aggressiveness of its front fascia, body kit and aero alloy wheels, which make it look far meaner and more imposing than the bigger new Alfa Romeo Tonale mid-size SUV.
The front-end features a slim set of daytime running lights along the bonnet line, anchored by subtle headlight clusters, below which is a set of chiselled cheeks and a wide front air intake that effectively spans the width of the bumper.
Between the lights and this gaping grille is plenty of creased body work, while taking pride of place front and centre is the obligatory shield-shaped grille.
The flanks of the car are far more subdued with few standout details – save for the pillar-mounted door-handles, sexy alloy wheel design and red brake callipers – while the rear looks to emulate the front lighting signature with segmented tail-lights and a thick rear bumper.
No details have been released about the Visconti, save for a nameplate teaser in which Alfa asked fans to guess the name of the upcoming model and published a cryptic graphic loosely showing the outline of a crowned serpent, specifically the Visconti serpent – a key part of the Italian brand’s badge and brand identity.
The fact ‘Visconti’ has also been trademarked in numerous global markets – including Australia – adds weight to the theory, but we’ll have to wait and see for sure.
It’s almost certain the all-new baby Alfa, which will belatedly replace the discontinued MiTo hatch in Alfa’s line-up, will share its platform and the bulk of its mechanical components with the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600e, in which case the battery-electric version would sport a single 115kW electric motor and a 54kWh lithium-ion battery capable of around 400km of driving.
But we wouldn’t at all be surprised if the electric Visconti ends up packing a bit more power than its siblings to match its sportier design, positioning and disposition as an Alfa Romeo, but you can be sure the bones of the model will be the same as its Jeep and Fiat relatives withi the Stellantis family.
Internal combustion power, meantime, will probably come from a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine good for around 74kW, whereas the hybrid will probably split the two systems and be good for about 90-100kW.
