The 2025 Audi A3 portfolio will open from $54,800 plus on-road costs when it arrives early next year, with just four variants comprising the initial launch line-up.
That opening figure predictably applies to the entry-level 35 TFSI S Line Sportback and marks a $4200 increase over the previous version, with a bigger $4700 increase applying to the equivalent sedan ($57,800).
From there prices jump to $78,800 and $81,800 for the new S3 Sportback and sedan respectively, representing increases of up to $4427.
On the standard A3, the extra coin nets you that new body along with a significantly expanded array of standard equipment via the previously optional S Line package now being made standard.
Headlining the cabin makeover are heated sport front seats with power-adjustment for the driver, black headliner, aluminium trim, stainless steel pedals, contrast stitching, plenty of ‘S’ logos and a perforated leather steering wheel.
Other standard features include tri-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit plus, MMI navigation plus, Audi connect plus, matrix LED headlights, 18-inch alloys, wireless phone charging and a 10-speaker sound system.
Drive is provided by the same 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mild hybrid as before, meaning the A3 35 TFSI S Line still outputs 110kW/250Nm, all of which is shipped to the front wheels by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).
The S3 by contrast packs an extra 17kW/20Nm over the previous model, now totalling 245kW/420Nm courtesy of an updated 2.0-litre turbo-petrol donk.
Zero-100km/h is done and dusted in a claimed 4.7 seconds – thanks to all-wheel-drive and a seven-speed DCT – and on the way to a restricted top speed of 250km/h.
As previously detailed, both the powertrain and chassis has been overhauled for better performance and sharper response, hence the addition of the new ‘Dynamic Plus’ drive mode and ‘torque splitter’ rear differential.
Other upgrades include stiffer wishbone bearings and new pivot bearings, stronger two-piston front brake calipers acting on bigger and perforated rotors as well as a revamped progressive steering set-up.
Headline cabin appointments meantime comprise everything offered on the 35 TFSI as well as Nappa leather upholstery, black microfibre inlays, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, S-specific performance displays and ambient interior lighting.
More variants will be added to the line-up at a later date, most likely a more powerful 40 TFSI dup and possibly even a plug-in hybrid of some description.
