Bentley has locked in a June 25 reveal for its new 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed, confirming the ‘Speed’ moniker up front for the fourth-generation grand tourer that will debut the British brand’s new ‘ultra high-performance’ plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Full technical specs are still to be released, but the PHEV powertrain – combining a 4.0-litre V8 with an electric motor and 26kWh battery – will develop 575kW and 1000Nm of torque, sending the new Continental GT Speed from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds.
It’ll also be capable of EV-only running for up to 80km.
These figures are favourable against the soon-to-be-retired 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbo powerplant in the outgoing GT Speed, which produces 485kW/900Nm and hits 100km/h in 3.6sec.
Top speed will remain at 335km/h, with Bentley already spruiking the hot new Conti GT as an unofficial ‘underwater speed’ record-holder, having hit its v-max in Norway’s Ryfylke Tunnel – the longest subsea road tunnel and deepest tunnel of any kind on the planet.
The new Continental GT Speed will also mark a milestone for Bentley as each of its core model lines will now feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain – a key stepping stone in the brand’s Beyond100 electrification strategy, which sees it become EV-only by 2030.
