The all-new 2025 BMW M5 Touring will be unveiled on August 15 at this year’s Monterey Car Week in California ahead of an anticipated Australian launch in the first half of next year.
Following in the tyre tracks of the E34 M5 Touring built from 1992 to 1995, and the V10-powered E61 M5 Touring (2007-2010), the new G99 BMW M5 Touring is all but certain to feature the sedan’s 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain good for 535kW and 1000Nm of torque.
Performance benchmarks are expected to closely resemble those claimed for the sedan, which can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 305km/h.
It should also offer a pure-electric range of around 60km, despite tipping the scales at an estimated 2500kg, drawing from an 18.6kW (useable) lithium-ion battery pack located under the floor.
The wagon is set to feature the sedan’s adaptive M chassis that includes adaptive dampers, double wishbones up front and a multi-link rear-end, plus an electronically-controlled rear differential.
As standard, expect the super-wagon to ride on staggered 20-inch and 21-inch M light alloy wheels and come with a luxurious cabin equipped with high-end features such as heated and ventilated Merino leather seats and an 18-speaker premium sound system.
Australian pricing and specs are still to be released by BMW Australia, but expect a premium for the M5 Touring over the $259,900 (plus on-road costs) charged for the M5 sedan.
