The 2025 BMW X3 has been priced from $84,500 plus on-road costs ahead of its Australian release early next year, marking a mild $1400 increase over the current model despite being all-new.
Just two all-wheel drive petrol variants of the all-new mid-size premium SUV will be offered from launch: the entry-level 20 xDrive and the flagship M50 xDrive.
The latter will cost $126,900 plus ORCs and succeed the outbound M40i xDrive (which costs just $100 less) as the penultimate variant positioned beneath the intense new X3 M when it eventually arrives.
Under the bonnet of the base 2025 BMW X3 20 xDrive will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine outputting 140kW/310Nm and driving all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.
BMW says this system will launch the X3 to 100km/h in 8.3 seconds.
Powering the M50 xDrive, meantime, will be a twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six good for 293kW/580Nm, making it the most powerful six-cylinder ever fitted to an M Performance model.
The result is claimed 0-100km/h acceleration in 4.6sec – 0.2sec quicker than the current M40i xDrive, which is priced from $126,800 plus ORCs.
Transmission duties are again handled by an eight-speed automatic as standard.
Both powertrains are supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system that primarily helps save fuel and smooth the low-speed driving experience, as opposed to increasing performance.
The standard equipment list for the new X3 will be as expansive as the wider BMW Australia product portfolio, with plenty of new inclusions joining the range of familiar toys.
Highlights will comprise 19-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, a six-speaker sound system, adaptive dampers, adaptive LED headlights, powered tailgate, Iconic Glow grille, BMW Live Cockpit Professional (14.9-inch infotainment,12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Operating System 9), Comfort Access, Driving Assistant Professional, head-up display, heated front seats, wireless smartphone mirroring and leather upholstery.
The M50 xDrive adds a 15-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, 21-inch alloys, quad exhaust outlets, a fixed glass roof, M-specific trim and body kit, privacy glass, rear sunblinds, red M brake callipers, M seat belts, steering wheel heating, ventilated front seats and heated rear outer seats.
Customers wanting to add more gear to their X3 20 xDrive will be able to opt for the Enhancement ($6000), Comfort ($4000) and/or M Sport Pro ($3000) option packages, most of the contents of which are offered as standard on the flagship X3 variant.
In fact, the only optional extra for the M50 xDrive beyond certain paint finishes, upholstery and wheels is a $2200 tow kit, which is also applicable to the 20 xDrive.
Both versions will be covered by BMW Australia’s five-year/unlimited-kilometre factory warranty.
