2025 Chery Tiggo 4 becomes Australia’s cheapest hybrid

UPDATED, 7 August 2025: The 2025 Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid has officially been detailed for Australia, where it lands in showrooms this week with a starting price of less than $30k drive-away.

Available in two variants, the entry-level Urban ($29,990 drive-away) comes fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, seven airbags, and a full suite of driver assistance aids.

Inside, dual-zone climate control features alongside a pair of 10.25-inch digital displays, with wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ‘Hello Chery’ voice control, and a four-speaker audio system.

For an additional $5k, the top-spec Urban ($34,990 d/a) adds a host of interior goodies – synthetic leather upholstery with heating up front, a ‘premium’ steering wheel, six-speaker sound system, ambient interior lighting, 15W wireless phone charging pad, a 360-degree parking camera, and sunroof with retractable sunshade – plus red brake calipers, to make it easier to spot from the outside.

Under the bonnet of every petrol-electric Tiggo 4 is a 71kW/120Nm 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 150kW/310Nm electric motor, said to deliver combined average fuel consumption of 5.4L/100km.

The Tiggo 4 Hybrid is backed by Chery’s seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.

ORIGINAL, 16 June 2025: Chery Australia will soon offer the market’s cheapest hybrid: the 2025 Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid.

Priced from $29,990 drive-away and due in showrooms next month, the Tiggo 4 Hybrid will be offered in Urban and Ultimate ($34,990) guises, each motivated by a 1.5-litre petrol-electric powertrain said to return 5.4L/100km.

That consumption figure extrapolates out to a maximum fuel range of roughly 1000km.

Chery Australia has promised to divulge more details of its new compact hybrid closer to its launch, though both the Urban and Ultimate trim levels are already available locally with turbo-petrol power which gives us a good idea as to what to expect.

On the Hybrid Urban, be prepared to see 17-inch wheels, a six-speaker sound system, automatic wipers, acoustic glass, dual 10.25-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control and fabric upholstery.

The Ultimate will build on this with 18-inch wheels, a power sunroof, artificial leather, power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, automatic headlights, a 15W wireless phone charger and power-folding mirrors.
