2025 Chery Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 Super Hybrids arrive

The 2025 Chery Tiggo 7 and 2025 Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrids have arrived Down Under in tandem, priced from $39,990 and $45,990 drive-away respectively, with the former taking the gong as Australia’s cheapest plug-in hybrid.

Both models are being offered in entry-level Urban and upper tier Ultimate forms, though there are some differences in the standard inclusions beyond their physical size.

Headlining the Tiggo 7 Urban CSH’s (Chery Super Hybrid) kit list are 18-inch alloy wheels, synthetic leather seats, acoustic windscreen glass, intelligent voice command, a six-speaker sound system, dual 12.3-inch displays, smartphone mirroring, a six-way powered driver’s seat and LED exterior lighting.

The Ultimate ($43,990) builds on this with a panoramic sunroof (plus a powered sunshade), colour-selectable ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, memory driver’s seat, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, 50W wireless charger, puddle lights, privacy glass and a 360-degree camera.

The Tiggo 8 Urban CSH meantime offers 19-inch alloy wheels as standard, plus a 360-degree camera, synthetic leather seats, a 50W wireless charger, colour-selectable ambient lighting, intelligent voice command, a 10-speaker sound system, 10.25-inch digital cockpit, a 15.6-inch infotainment unit, acoustic windscreen glass, puddle lights, six-way powered driver’s seat and LED exterior lighting.

Another $4000 upstream, the Ultimate CSH ($49,990) adds heated and ventilated front seats, driver headrest speakers, a head-up display, panoramic sunroof with powered sunshade, privacy glass, massaging driver’s seat and illuminated scuff plates.

Both models feature the same turbo-petrol-electric plug-in hybrid system that comprises a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine (105kW/250Nm), a singular electric motor (150kW/310Nm), an 18.3kWh battery pack and single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission – driving the front wheels.

Weirdly however, the bigger Tiggo 8 offers slightly more range than the lighter and more compact Tiggo 7 (95km vs 93km NEDC), though both will cover up to 1200km on a full fuel load.
