The BYD Group has locked in its first two Denza models for Australia: the B5 and B8 off-road SUVs, both of which will arrive in local showrooms this November to poach the GWM Tank 300 and 500.

The Finer Details
We knew Denza was coming to Australia this quarter, but we didn’t know which models it would launch first… and now we do.
The Fangchengbao Bao 5 and Fangchengbao Bao 8 – aka Leopard 5 and Leopard 8 – will come to Australia as the 2025 Denza B5 and B8 respectively to make life difficult for both the local GWM Tank and Toyota 4x4 line-ups.
The B5 is essentially an SUV version of the BYD Shark 6 – in the same way a Ford Everest is wagon spin-off of the Ranger – and as such, features a dual-motor 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain good for a combined 505kW/760Nm.
It measures 4890mm long, 1970mm wide, 1920mm tall and sits on a 2800mm wheelbase with seating for five.
The bigger 2025 Denza B8 meantime scores a gustier 2.0-litre dual-motor PHEV system (550kW/760Nm) and spans 5195mm x 1994mm x 1905mm with a 2920mm wheelbase.
The Road Ahead
Neither model has been priced or detailed for Australia just yet, but it shouldn’t be too long before such announcements are made, and if the Shark 6 is anything to go by, the B5 and B8 will be priced extremely aggressively.
“Denza will offer a whole new range for consumers wanting a slice of luxury and the latest in innovation,” Denza Australia COO Mark Harland said.
“For those who see roads as invitations, not boundaries, we know Denza will be one of the most exciting premium brand launches to date.”
More models will follow the luxury 4x4s in 2026.
