2025 Fisker Alaska EV to be ‘Ferrari of pick-ups’

Californian electric car-maker’s high-performance Alaska ute set to outgun Tesla Cybertruck and Co

Fisker Automotive has claimed its incoming 2025 Fisker Alaska will be the ‘Ferrari of pick-ups’, confirming a high-performance flagship version of its incoming EV ute is in the works to take the fight up to the most powerful Tesla Cybertruck.

Expected to be unveiled next year, with Australian deliveries possible by 2025, the Fisker Alaska has already been billed by company boss Henrik Fisker as the lightest and greenest battery-electric pick-up in its class.

Now, the EV start-up’s founder has claimed the Alaska will be the Ferrari of pick-ups, hinting at class-best performance and handling.

“If Ferrari were to do a pick-up, this is what it’d be like,” Fisker told UK magazine Auto Express.

He also said the Alaska would be the “sportiest of pick-ups”.

As well as majoring in performance, Fisker says the Alaska won’t sacrifice practicality or utility, claiming the ute will be capable of carrying longer loads than its rivals.

This has led some to suggest that the dual-cab, which was teased by Fisker himself back in 2020, will have fold-down rear seats and an opening rear bulkhead.

“Wait to see some of the things we’ve come up with,” he told the Brit mag. “They’re really clever.”

No technical details have been revealed yet, but it’s thought to accomplish its goals of being the lightest, sportiest and fastest all-electric pick-up the Fisker Alaska will shun traditional ladder-frame underpinnings for a car-like monocoque chassis.

Magna Steyr’s FM29 architecture, which underpins the Fisker Ocean SUV, is the likely platform.

Set to feature a long wheelbase, the pick-up will measure in at more than five metres long and should come with a 113kWh battery as an option, providing a range of more than 500km.

Also expect a dual- or triple-motor powertrain to produce in excess of 800kW, and for the Alaska to hit 100km/h in less than 3.0 seconds.
