Ford has announced the pricing and specification details of its inbound Transit Custom PHEV and the all-electric E-Transit Custom ahead of their respective introductions in the third quarter of the year.
Each will be available in the familiar Trend LWB and Sport SWB forms, the PHEVs priced from $67,590 and $69,990 plus on-road costs respectively while the 2025 Ford E-Transit Custom opens from $77,590 and tops out at $79,990.
Zeroing in on the PHEVs, the hybrid duo features a 171kW petrol-electric powertrain combining a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT) with an electric motor which draws current from an 11.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
The result is a combined fuel consumption of 1.7L/100km (WLTP) and an electric-only range of up to 54km.
The E-Transit Customs meantime pack a singular 160kW/415Nm electric motor on the rear axle and a 64kWh battery pack for an effective driving range of 301-307km depending on the variant.
DC fast charging can be done at up to 125kW, something that yields a 15-80 per cent top up in a claimed 32 minutes – the PHEV can only be charge using AC power (3.5kW).
Every electrified Transit custom has a payload of at least 1080kg, a gross combined mass of more than 5225kg and are rated to tow up to 2300kg (braked).
As for the equipment levels, it’s all pretty much business as usual with largely the same appointments and standard inclusions as the turbo-diesel Trend and Sport variants, albeit with a couple of necessary electrification-specific touches.
Headline gear on the Trend grade includes Intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a reversing camera, 13-inch infotainment system, a 12-inch driver cluster, voice command, sat-nav, smartphone mirroring, wireless charging, cloth seat trim, keyless start, climate control, automatic headlights, integrated roof racks, full-width metal bulkhead with window and load-through hatch, sliding left door, rear twin barn doors, LED load area lighting and 16-inch steel wheels.
The Sport adds nicer trim and stripes, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, Dual Zone climate control, Locking Lower Glovebox, LED front lighting, sports body kit and rear spoiler, Stripe Package and black 17-inch alloys.
Note, the above features are for the PHEV – Ford says the E-Transit Custom specs will be announced later.
