The 2025 Genesis G70 Track Day Special Concept has been revealed, the model serving as a one-off and more extreme version of the premium mid-size sedan.
Based on the flagship Genesis G70 3.3T Sport Luxury, the most extreme take yet on the G70 comes powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine.
There’s no word if the track-focused version produces more than the standard car’s 274kW and 510Nm, but it’s likely the new concept will be quicker than its 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds.
Claimed to be inspired by the Genesis Track Taxi Nordschleife, which provides hot laps for tourists around Germany’s famed Nürburgring circuit, the new Genesis G70 Track Day Special Concept gets the same modified chassis already used for the Track Taxi.
That means it bags lower, stiffer springs and smaller 19-inch alloy wheels, the latter shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
The need for extra cooling, meanwhile, sees new bonnet vents added, while new front canard wings and a huge boot-lid-mounted spoiler are evidence of a reworked aero that aids the G70’s stability at high speed.
Front and rear tow hooks are also present, should the faster G70 need to be tugged out from the scenery, while yellow-tinted headlights and fog lamps mimick the endurance racers that compete at the German track most weekends.
Finally, there are door roundels and G70 graphics, with ‘Nordschleife’ (North Loop) decals over the front fenders.
Sadly, for those who fancy a Genesis-built BMW M3 or Mercedes-AMG C63 rival, the new G70 Track Day Special Concept is said to be a one-off project.
Instead, the concept “symbolises one of the many emotionalising steps Genesis is taking as a brand”.
What is confusing is why the new G70 concept isn’t badged a Magma, following the launch of the Korean luxury brand’s high-performance sub-brand that will introduce its first vehicle Down Under, the GV60 Magma, in early 2026.
Even stranger, Genesis has already confirmed it will do a G70 Magma and, in the past, had confirmed it had already been previewed by the bright-orange Nürburgring taxis.
It’s now thought the Genesis G70 Track Day Special Concept might be the thinly veiled production version of the inbound G70 Magma.
Last year Genesis released a concept for a larger and hotter G80 EV Magma, which followed on from the limited-run G80 Performance that was created for the Middle East.
