2025 GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV prices change

New pricing model brings reductions for all states and territories besides WA

GWM Australia has binned the national drive-away pricing model for its inbound Cannon Alpha PHEV and replaced it with a new state-by-state set-up that’s trimmed up to $2500 off the asking price of the flagship pick-up truck.

Whereas the electrified load lugger was previously priced from between $63,990 (Lux) and $68,990 (Ultra) drive-away nation-wide, it’s now being offered from between $61,490 and $71,090 drive-away depending on the variant and state or territory of purchase.

Number buffs will have no doubt spotted that $71,090 is higher than $68,990 – when referring to the Ultra – and the short answer is yes, it is, but that figure only applies to WA which has the country’s highest on-road costs.

The pricing revision comes in the wake of face-to-face negotiations between local and global GWM executives at the Shanghai motor show last week which yielded reduced list prices for the 2025 GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV immediately ahead of its Aussie introduction.

How much lower the new $59,990 and $66,990 (plus ORCs) list prices are than before is unclear as the brand never published the original figures.

Regardless, the Cannon Alpha PHEV is now more affordable than before in every state besides WA and therefore more competitive against the barnstorming BYD Shark 6 it’ll undoubtedly cross swords with.

And indeed, the GWM has already landed another glancing blow seeing as its official electric range is now 115km – up from 110km – against the NEDC test cycle; some 15km more than the admittedly cheaper Shark 6.

How the extra range has been liberated is yet to be confirmed, but there’s little doubt fans and execs will use it in their next round of top trumps against the BYD clan.

Sales contracts signed by June 30 will also include a free 7kW AC home charger, though installation is not included.
