The 2025 GWM Haval H6 mid-size SUV is now available with two new electrified powertrains following the introduction of an entry plug-in H6 Lux PHEV front-wheel drive priced at $44,990 drive-away and a new H6 Ultra Hybrid all-wheel drive that costs $47,490 drive-away. Both are available from the middle of September.
The 2025 Haval H6 line-up has been boosted with the addition of two new hybrids, including an all-wheel drive dual motor Hybrid (HEV) in the higher-spec Ultra trim.
It is added to the front-wheel drive plugless hybrid H6s already on offer.
The other new H6 model is the first front-wheel drive plug-in hybrid in the lower-spec Lux trim.
The H6 Ultra Hybrid combines an 80kW/170Nm front e-motor and a 150kW/350Nm rear motor with a 110kW/240Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine.
Combined, total power is a muscular 268kW and a towering 760Nm of torque. Official claimed efficiency reduces from 5.2L/100km/120g/km of CO2 to 5.4L/100km and 125g/km of CO2.
Created to match all-wheel drive hybrid versions of the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail, the new H6 Ultra AWD Hybrid costs $47,490 drive-away, representing a $3500 bump in price on the less powerful 179kW/530Nm front-drive Ultra hybrid.
The new entry front-drive H6 Lux PHEV FWD blends the same 110kW/240Nm 1.5-litre engine with a 19.09kWh lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP) and a single 130kW/300Nm e-motor. Total output measures 240kW/540Nm.
Capable of an all-electric range of more than 100km (NEDC), Haval claims its cheapest plug-in hybrid mid-sizer can average 1.0L/100km while emitting 22g/km of CO2.
Its $44,990 pricing means it undercuts the two-wheel drive H6 Ultra PHEV by $3000 and the all-wheel drive flagship by $6000.
When it arrives the most affordable plug-in will come with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, power fold mirrors with puddle lamps, an electric tailgate, 14.6-inch infotainment system that works with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker sound system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 6-way electric adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone climate control and a 50W wireless phone charger.
Safety tech includes adaptive cruise, pedestrian and cyclist AEB detection, junction assist, driver fatigue detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and a 360-degree camera.
Choose the new H6 Ultra AWD Hybrid and Haval adds front parking sensors, rear privacy glass, a panoramic roof, head-up display, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, driver seat lumbar and a front stainless steel bash-plate.
All Haval H6 models come with a seven-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, eight-year/unlimited kilometre protection for the high-voltage battery, five-year roadside assistance and five-years' capped servicing.
The more affordable PHEV version of the Haval H6 might tempt a few more Australians into life with a plug-in but for everyone else it's the all-wheel drive HEV version that is the crucial addition to GWM line-up.
That’s because looming on the horizon is the next-generation of the Toyota RAV4 that has historically ruled the mid-size segment both locally and globally.
